In 2007, NASA’s Cassini-Huygens probe discovers a new moon on Saturn: the 60th satellite.

Cassini-Huygens was a joint project of NASA, ESA and ASI. It was an unmanned space mission to study the planet Saturn and its natural satellites, colloquially called moons. The spacecraft consisted of two main elements: the Cassini probe and the Huygens lander.

The Cassini orbiter was originally planned to fly over Saturn and its moons for four years, and the Huygens probe was to penetrate Titan’s atmosphere and land on its surface.

On 26 April 2017, Cassini flew into space between Saturn and its rings, completing its last mission before disintegrating on 15 September 2017. It was the first space probe to fly between the planet and the rings.
